Saddam tenía ADM - La prueba.

Parece que ha aparecido la prueba de la pistola humeante en relación con las tan traídas y llevadas Armas de Destrucción Masiva de Saddam Hussein.

Ya el otro día traía a estas páginas las confesiones de un antiguo mando iraquí que afirma en sus memorias, no sólo la existencia de las Armas de Destrucción Masiva que fueron una de las causas esgrimidas por la coalición liderada por EE.UU. para invadir el país mediooriental, sino que dichas armas pudieron haber sido trasladadas a Siria ante la inminente intervención bélica de los aliados.

Ahora, según informa, cómo no, CNSNews.com en un informe especial firmado por Monisha Bansal, un Comité de Inteligencia dependiente de la Casa Blanca revisará 12 horas de conversaciones grabadas a Saddam Hussein donde, al parecer, el ex-dictador iraquí planeaba atacar a los EE.UU. utilizando dichas Armas de Destrucción Masiva. Según informaciones del New York Sun, las grabaciones han sido certificadas como auténticas.

The U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, which according to the New York Sun has already authenticated the Saddam tapes, has reopened its investigation into the possible existence and location of the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction (WMD). But some long-time liberal skeptics are showing no inclination to change their minds.

In the months leading up to the invasion of Iraq on March 19, 2003, the Bush administration argued that the war was necessary as a preemptive strike because the Iraqi president had WMD and there was a danger that he would use them against the United States.

On Oct. 6, 2004, Charles Duelfer, advisor to the director of Central Intelligence on Iraqi weapons, told the Senate Armed Services Committee that Saddam did not have WMD at the time of the invasion and that the weapons were likely destroyed following the first Persian Gulf War in 1991. On Jan. 12, 2005, the U.S. announced that is was stopping its search for the weapons in Iraq.

But a four-day Intelligence Summit, to be held Feb. 17-20 in Arlington, Va., is re-igniting the debate over the Iraqi WMD. The featured discussion, on Saturday, Feb. 18, is titled: “Saddam’s WMD Tapes: ‘The Smoking Gun’ Evidence.” The agenda for the event indicates that the person who will speak about the tapes is at this point “anonymous.”

ABC News has obtained 12 hours of tape recordings of Saddam Hussein meeting with top aides during the 1990s, tapes apparently recorded in Baghdad’s version of the Oval Office.

ABC News obtained the tapes from Bill Tierney, a former member of a United Nations inspection team who translated them for the FBI. Tierney said the U.S. government is wrong to keep these tapes and others secret from the public. “Because of my experience being in the inspections and being in the military, I knew the significance of these tapes when I heard them,” says Tierney. U.S. officials have confirmed the tapes are authentic, and that they are among hundreds of hours of tapes Saddam recorded in his palace office.

Yo me reafirmo en lo que tantas veces he dicho: que las Armas de Destrucción Masiva han sido un caballo de batalla fundamentalmente promovido por la izquierda para desautorizar la intervención de los aliados en Irak, cuando existían razones más que sobradas para organizar y llevar a cabo dicha intervención: Saddam Hussein y su rágimen constituían una lacra para su propio pueblo y una amenaza para el mundo libre, sin necesidad de armas de destrucción masiva. Al fin y al cabo, los pelotones de fusilamiento y los trenes-bomba no necesitan de armas sofisticadas ni de tecnología punta para causar enormes daños y un terror constante.

Sin embargo, estas nuevas pruebas de la existencia de las armas de destrucción masiva en poder de Saddam y su régimen son un nuevo golpe a las tesis de la izquierda contraria a la invasión, un golpe contundente asestado en el centro de su argumentario, del que, estoy seguro, se negarán a hacerse eco. Pero la realidad, como decían en Expediente X, “está ahí fuera”; sólo hay que asomarse un poco.

¿Veremos en los proximos dias estas noticias en los Medios de Comunicación? Yo apuesto a que no. Imaginen la difusión que tendria una cinta con la voz de Bush diciendo que invadieron Irak para hacerse con el control del petroleo y tal y tal… No tardaria ni un solo segundo en ser difundida hasta en la Antartida.

Porque la noticia está ahí desde hace más de un año, pero se conoce que vende poco decir la verdad cuando la verdad contradice los prejuicios de la izquierda.
