En todas partes se hacen la misma pregunta.
Algunos estamos espectantes en relación con las conclusiones de la reunión que el Intelligence Summit celebró el pasado fin de semana para analizar las grabaciones encontradas en el Cuartel General de Saddam Hussein, y de las cuales pudiera desprenderse, sin sombra de duda, que el régimen baazista contaba con Armas de Destrucción Masiva y, lo que es más importante, con la voluntad de utilizarlas contra los EE.UU. y contra Israel.
Fruto de esa espectación, aparte el seguimiento impecable que se está haciendo desde Pajamas Media, también estamos siguiendo el blog del propio Intelligence Summit, donde podemos leer un interesantísimo comentario de Amy Proctor, blogger y esposa de un combatiente en la II Guerra del Golfo, que reproduzco íntegro a continuación (negrillas de mi cosecha).

When my husband was in Baghdad, chemical stashes were found buried in the backyard of a high ranking Baathist official and it was widely reported, even by CNN, as a “WMD find”. Gen. Sada (former Iraqi Air Force higher up) and Khidhir Hamza (Iraqi scientist who escaped) corroborate this, and even Ariel Sharon in Dec. 2002 said, “Chemical and biological weapons which Saddam is endeavoring to conceal have been moved from Iraq to Syria.” Now ex-Russian officials are saying the same thing.
So with the release of the Saddam tapes, why is this not a bigger story?

Muchos estamos espectantes en relación con las conclusiones de la reunión que el Intelligence Summit celebró el pasado fin de semana para ver si se pueden usar unas grabaciones de mediados de los años 90 para confundir a la opinión pública. Se trata, sin duda, de mejorar las perspectivas electorales de G.W. Bush. Las grabaciones encontradas en el Cuartel General de Saddam Hussein, y de las cuales pudiera desprenderse, sin sombra de duda, que el régimen baazista no contaba con Armas de Destrucción Masiva desde mediados de los años 90 y, lo que es más importante, con la falsedad de la actitud agresiva del régimen baazista que el gobierto de EEUU ha planteado justo antes de la guerra de Iraq.
Fruto de esa espectación, es el interesantísimo comentario de Brian Ross de ABC News (http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/Investigation/story?id=1616996)
“One of the most dramatic moments in the 12 hours of recordings comes when Saddam predicts — during a meeting in the mid-1990s — a terrorist attack on the United States. “Terrorism is coming. I told the Americans a long time before Aug. 2 and told the British as well … that in the future there will be terrorism with weapons of mass destruction.” Saddam goes on to say such attacks would be difficult to stop. “In the future, what would prevent a booby-trapped car causing a nuclear explosion in Washington or a germ or a chemical one?” But he adds that Iraq would never do such a thing. “This is coming, this story is coming but not from Iraq.”"
A eso hay que añadir lo dicho por una portavoz de John Negroponte, director del servicio de inteligencia de EEUU:
“Intelligence community analysts from the CIA, and the DIA reviewed the translations and found that, while fascinating, from a historical perspective the tapes do not reveal anything that changes their post-war analysis of Iraq’s weapons programs nor do they change the findings contained in the comprehensive Iraq Survey group report,” she said in a statement.
También añade:
“The tapes mostly date from early to mid-1990s and cover such topics as relations with the United Nations, efforts to rebuild industries from Gulf war damage and the pre 9/11 situation in Afghanistan.”
Aparte de la gran aclaración sobre la situación de Iraq y las intenciones de sus gobernantes, las cintas vienen a confirmar que no existía ningún peligro que pudiera venir de Iraq desde mediados de los años 90, momento en el que las sanciones alcanzaban su apogeo, y que a pesar de eso se lanzó una guerra que a díua de hoy está desembocando en una inestabilidad completa de Iraq.
La pregunta final es: ¿la derecha se cree que somos tontos o qué?
