(Montones de) osos polares en peligro de extinción.
La página web del Business & Media Institute es algo asà como el equivalente a Malaprensa o El Observador en EE.UU; desmenuza la idiotez polÃticamente correcta de los MSM con rigor y, muchas veces, con gracia.
Hoy leemos una historia de osos polares y hielos fundentes a cuenta de la obsesión del programa de la ABC “Good Morning America” con el (presunto) Calentamiento Global y la (inexistente) destrucción del hábitat de los úrsidos en el Ã?rtico.
“And now, an Arctic update,â€? said “GMAâ€? weatherman Sam Champion. “We’ve shown you pictures where this is all that’s left of the ice around the North Pole after the summer melt. Later today, the National Snow and Ice Data Center will announce exactly how much Arctic ice has shrunk. But we do know that they believe it is the lowest ever recorded – just about 1 million square miles.â€?
But then Champion reported the historic upside of the melting.
“Take a look at the two possible paths of the fabled Northwest Passage – the northern route connecting the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans,â€? Champion said. “They could finally become passable to ship traffic. That’s a two-edged sword for many environmentalists. While taking the shorter northern route than the southern route could save a tremendous amount of energy.â€?
The Northwest Passage would shave about 4,000 miles off ships’ travel from Europe to Asia, avoiding having to travel through the Panama Canal or Suez Canal. But there’s a catch, according to Champion.
“There’s great concern about the impact of the melting ice on the wildlife in that area,� Champion said. “For example, the loss of Arctic ice could mean the loss of the homeland for polar bears.�
If the polar bears are struggling because of melting ice, they’re certainly not showing it. According to a study reported in the September 3 Telegraph (U.K.), the polar bears are thriving.
“There aren’t just a few more bears,â€? said Mitch Taylor, a polar bear biologist who has spent 20 years studying the animals, to the Telegraph. “There are a hell of a lot more bears.â€?

Por otra parte, me pregunto cuánto tiempo tardarán los cerebritos progres en darse cuenta de que la apertura del Paso Noroeste puede perjudicar, de hecho, los intereses comerciales norteamericanos en el Canal de Panamá (ese súper atentado ecológico y demostración de imperialismo yanqui). Cuando se percaten, no quiero imaginar su crisis de conciencia; al fin y al cabo, el Calentamiento Global será algo bueno.

Me recuerda aquello de que “el problema es que el lince ibérico es muy rápido, peor no es muy inteligente y se lanza bajo las ruedas de los coches”.
Sinceramente no entiendo ese empeño en denostar cualquier cosa salida de los “cerebritos progres”. No necesariamente porque Al Gore esté dando la lata con el tema, eso significa automáticamente que lo del cambio climático sea un invento. En cualquier caso, incluso admitiendo que no soy biólogo, me sorprende que una que según el Telegraph lo es, diga “no pasa nada. que se adapten a comer hierba”.
Es que no son pocas las evidencias cientÃficas que apuntan a que el calentamiento global antropogénico es un camelo. SerÃa demasiado cansador citarlas aquÃ.
Por otra parte, el que un “cientÃfico” afirme “People who deny that have a clear interest in hunting bears”, qué quieres que te diga, queda automáticamente descalificado como cientÃfico. Con igual solvencia puedo yo replicarle “people who afirm that have a clear interest in making benefit from my taxes”.
